Iain Raphael Bong is a Director, Cinematographer (DP), and Producer from Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia. Self-taught and deeply driven by story, Iain’s visual language blends nostalgia with a sense of quiet realism—often focusing on themes rooted in identity, place, and memory. He began his creative journey at 15, experimenting with mobile phones and borrowed cameras. Over time, his work has grown to include a wide range of projects featured in publications, exhibitions, international festivals, tourism platforms, and global creative networks.

As the founder of IAINWITHEYES Studios, Iain leads original productions and collaborates on films and commercial campaigns across the region. He values collaboration and believes in building work that is both emotionally resonant and socially grounded.

Iain’s projects have steadily gained recognition for their craft and impact. His short film KUMANG (2023) became the first Sarawakian short film to be nominated at Festival Filem Malaysia (FFM) 2024, reflecting his quiet but consistent effort to bring underrepresented stories into the national spotlight. He has also contributed to award-winning commercials, working alongside teams that share a commitment to thoughtful, meaningful storytelling.

Through each project, Iain continues to explore new ways of seeing—rooted in community, collaboration, and a deep respect for the stories that shape us.
